GRANADA HILLS

Located alongside the 118 Freeway at the foothills of the Santa Susana Mountains lies the charming neighborhood of Granada Hills. It’s a high-income, highly diverse suburbia filled with enough Mid-Century Modern Architecture it would make Don Draper trade his Madmen lifestyle for a Balboa Highlands’ Eichler home. Referring to themselves as “the Valley’s Most Neighborly Town,” it may also be SFV’s greenest town. At least it looks that way when you stroll down historic White Oak Avenue and take in the 101 Deodar trees. It also happens to be the street where E.T. flies off in Elliot’s bicycle basket.

Granada Hills 16 public and 10 private schools are impressive to say the least. Its namesake high school scores a whopping 878 on the American Performance Index (800 is considered really good), with 5 National Academic Decathlon trophies closely guarded in their halls.

GRV LOCAL EATS

FOOD TRUCKS (FRIDAY NIGHTS 5:00PM-11:00PM, ZELZAH & CHATSWORTH)

If there is a culinary step in the right direction in the San Fernando Valley, it’s the food trucks. Every Friday night, you get a crowd as eclectic as the food. Meet and greet or just pig out with your neighbors . Make sure to follow the trucks you like on social media! They operate in other parts of the city during the rest of the week.

JOE’S CAFÉ (17823 CHATSWORTH ST)

Although a relative newcomer in the neighborhood, Joe’s is a power player in the trendy direction Granada Hills is heading. Brunch is huge here, so spend your Sunday morning waiting in line like the rest of us. The food is modern, just like the conversations you'll have.

SAJ BAKERY (11146 BALBOA BLVD.)

This place is the real deal for Lebanese food. You got the kebab rotisserie, you got the Shawarma, Sujukh, and falafels.

VERDICT

Granada Hills has a lot of gentrification on the way. Already a power player in the North Valley, you can only expect property prices to increase. People are proud to live in Granada Hills.
