LAKE BALBOA

Lake Balboa; Los Angeles Love Affair

Lake Balboa, Google map

Nearly everything in the small community of Lake Balboa has “Lake Balboa” in its name. But what it lacks in nomenclature variety, it makes up for in demographics. It’s considered “highly diverse” in an already ethnically diverse Los Angeles County. Parents, you can choose from 15 area schools from traditional LAUSD public, charter, alternative and magnet, as well as private and Catholic.

Most impressive is the 80 acre Lake Balboa Park, which has at its center (you guessed it) the actual Lake Balboa, great for fishing, pedal boating and duck watching. Runners will love the 1.3 mile jogging path and kids can enjoy a universally accessible playground.

GRV LOCAL EATS

HUMBLE BEE (17321 SATICOY ST. NORTHRIDGE, CA 91325)

This quaint little joint serves some of the hippest brunch in the San Fernando Valley. Quality service, fresh coffee, and their one of a kind ‘Panwich’ (that’s right, a pancake sandwich) makes the Humble Bee a top choice for breakfast enthusiasts everywhere.

KAO HOM (7139 BALBOA BLVD. VAN NUYS, CA 91406)

If you love authentic Thai food, you will love Kao Hom. This local favorite hosts some of the tastiest recipes from Thailand. You won’t regret taking this flavorful step out of the ordinary.

TOP BAR BURGER (17238 SATICOY ST. VAN NUYS, CA 91406)

If you think another burger joint will be nothing but white noise, think again. Top Bar Burger is a hidden gem with huge portions, a variety of toppings, and an unforgettable savory taste. Choose this over any fast food spot any day.

VERDICT

Lake Balboa is central to the entire SFV. In the same way, homes there are representative of an "average" valley feel. Don't over look homes here.
