PORTER RANCH

If Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv knew about Porter Ranch, then the Fresh Prince may have ended up here instead of Bel Air. Snuggled right up against the Santa Susana Mountains, you are looking at the wealthiest community in the SFV. Half of all Porter Rancheros are college grads who school their kids at either Castle Bay Lane or Porter Ranch Community, both of which bust out API scores upwards of 900.

A small ten percent of the residents write monthly rent checks, since most of these folks are homeowners, skillfully navigating their commutes on the 118, 405 and 5 Freeways. Residents will tell you it’s worth every Waze reroute because at the end of the day, they’ve got their “sanctuary from the urban hubbub.”

GRV LOCAL EATS

MUSASHI JAPANESE CUISINE (19713 RINALDI ST)

Situated on the corner of the Porter Ranch plaza for the whole wocommunity to see, the food at this restaurant is your above-average Japanese fare. It’s a good place to start to get a taste of this high-end neighborhood.

JASMINE THAI CUSINE (19707 RINALDI ST)

The interior décor is as solid as the food here. Don’t skimp on the spices!

ISLANDS RESTAURANT (11400 PORTER RANCH DR)

On the other side of the plaza, you’ll find your well-rounded burger joint. If you can get past the grease, you’ll find a fresh burger worth a once-in-a-while treat.

VERDICT

Chatsworth isn't for everyone. It's mainly for those with horses, cash, and several decades of years under their belt. One of the quietest areas in town in terms of traffic and home value appreciation.
