Lettuce, lima beans, and walnuts, oh my! That’s what Reseda was known for in the 1920’s, when the Southern Pacific Railroad chugged down Sherman Way every single day of harvest season. One of the Valley’s first suburbs, it’s now one of its busiest business districts. Not to worry, it hasn’t given up all it’s natural charm. Six years in the making, the Aliso Creek Confluence Park runs along the LA River, where you can co-habitate with wildlife for a brisk walk, bike ride or an invigorating gaze at the 100 foot long mural.
Reseda is also a great place to raise kids, with fifteen public and five private schools, including Cleveland High’s Humanities Magnet, recipient of the Steve Allen “Excellence in Education” Award. If you want to give them some history they won’t get from a textbook, teach them how to wax on and wax off while you drive to the South Seas Apartments. That’s where they shot scenes of Mr. Miyagi’s protégé.
